Glasgow Comic Con 2011

So after an exhausting but brilliant week, all the comic con madness is over. Gill, Kat, Coleen and Claire were representing the team at Saturday’s event and we had a ball. It was great to find cool Wonder Woman and Transformers comics, meet lots of other creators and write Mark Millar a love letter (IDST), but the highlight was all the lovely people who came to our stall, talked to us and bought our comics- thanks guys!! And thanks to Sha and John for organising such a successful event.

We were also nominated for a ‘Scottish Independant Comic Book (SICBA)’ award under the category of best comic. Although we lost out to the vert talented Burke and Hare guys, it was an honour to be nominated and thanks to all the people who voted for us and let us know that you care about TGC and enjoy reading our comics. We’ll be back next year for sure!

And finally a little report from the Team Girl DIY Workshop that was also held in the Mackintosh church on the Tuesday leading up to the event. We were amazed by the great turn out, especially for an afternoon event, and we managed to get a great discussion going about what women and girls want from comics and what we as creators, publishers and fans could do to improve the situation. The conversation went everywhere, nothing was left uncovered! Gill is now working on a report that gathers all the thoughts and ideas generated at the comic con workshop, and the Stripburger workshop that was held in London a few weeks ago. We’ll keep you posted xxx
